Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

By W.J. Lundy

You had my interest with the title. I love a good zombie book and this one did not disappoint.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is a short introduction to what I took to be a great new series. While in Afghanistan, with his entire military unit destroyed, Staff Sergeant Brad Thompson must find a way for himself and the men in his Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle to survive (this is why the army uses acronyms-“MRAP”).

This was a good paced, exciting short story. When reading a zombie book, I like to think to myself, “Does that seem like something that makes sense to do?” The answers were usually “yes”. So in that respect it was good.

I do have to call this book out for what it truly is, an introduction to the full length book, Tales of the Forgotten. WTF lacks the inter-survivor tension and conflict that are essential for a really good zombie book. I will, however, assume that this will be found in the next book.

3.5 Stars…..But I will definitely get Tales of the Forgotten
