Once again, I feel like I am late getting to the party, but I am so glad that I finally showed up! The Wedding People has been getting a lot of praise out there in the book world, and honestly, it deserves every word of it.

To say that I enjoyed this book would be an understatement. As soon as I began reading it, I just knew that it was going to be the book for me. Yes, I had read the synopsis. Yes, as I mentioned, I already knew that this book had received so much attention and love. What I didn’t realize was how much it would affect me.

Phoebe is at her lowest point. She has arrived for a night at the Cornwall Inn in Rhode Island for one extravagant night. It was a destination that she had always wanted to visit, and while the circumstances of her visit might be different from what she had originally imagined, she is going to try to make the most her one night there.

The Cornwall Inn is bustling with people. These people are all here for one event: a wedding. In fact, Phoebe is the only guest who is not with the wedding party and invitees. This wedding is a week-long event that is filled with family, friends, and activities. While Phoebe is there for her own reasons, getting in the way of the wedding people is not one of them, but sometimes things happen for a reason, and Phoebe’s plans get botched when she meets the bride.

There was so much to love about this book. While it did deal with serious subject matter, the author delivered it with a good amount of levity. I would feel the pangs of sadness and then be laughing out loud at some of the banter and antics in the story. It’s just wonderful writing!

I loved Phoebe’s relationship with the bride. They were very different people who were at very different points in there lives, but there was an instant camaraderie between them. Their initial meeting ended up being a pivotal point for both characters.

The Wedding People was just a fabulous well-rounded novel. I couldn’t have asked for a better story. It was heartfelt, witty, and hopeful. I was invested in the characters’ lives from the beginning and was rooting for them until the very end. It will definitely be making my list of favorite reads of 2025!
