Hollow Kingdom

By Kira Jane Buxton

Every once in a blue moon a book comes along that makes you want, no, not want, need to scream its praises from the rooftops. Hollow Kingdom is one such book. Read this book!

Buxton starts her story off with a unique enough concept: what would a domesticated crow make of a human zombie apocalypse? But Hollow Kingdom is so much more than just another twist on the apocalypse. It is one of the smartest books, with some of the most compelling characters that I have ever read. You need to read this book!

Despite the fact that we only get to see Big Jim through S.T.’s memories, and Dennis is more of the strong silent type, this was a top-notch literary trio; I constantly found myself highlighting one-liners, paragraphs and dialogue so that I could keep my wife up-to-date with the goings on of Hollow Kingdom. You need to read this book!

The comedic factor of Hollow Kingdom is perfection; Buxton masterfully traverses the line between brilliance and over done. Her placement of Cheetos ® was impeccable, they kept showing up but never felt overused. Whenever S.T. would reminisce about Big Jim, I just knew I would be in for a good time. You need to read this book!

Hollow Kingdom managed to do a whole lot more than make me laugh; I was captivated by the cause of this apocalypse. Buxton really put the time and thought into making this a complete story, one to make the reader laugh, think, and yes, cry. You. Need. To. Read. This. Book!
