One thing that I’ve learned over the past few years is that you really can’t go wrong with a book by Sophie Cousens. If you’re looking for a book with heart, humor, and great banter, this author delivers.

Anna Appleby is newly divorced, raising two children, and her job as a columnist for a local publication is at risk. Her boss wants something new, something fresh, something personal that will attract the local readers. When she proposes that she write a column based on her dating life, this might be just the thing to save her job. While she is adverse to the online dating scene, she proposes that she have her kids pick out which man to ask out on her dates. Yeah, like that couldn’t go badly (but so much fun). When her office rival decides to write a dating column that coincides with her column, the competition is on.

I loved watching Anna navigate the dating world again. Putting herself out there after many years of marriage is no easy feat, but it was a whole lot of fun to watch. To make matters worse, her ex is already in a relationship again, but with a younger woman (ugh). I could equally sympathize with her and find myself completely amused over it all. Of course, not only does Anna have to go out of her comfort zone and go on dates, but she also has to compete with her office rival at the same time. But you know that when there is an office rival, there is bound to be some witty banter and chemistry in the mix.

Is She Really Going Out with Him? was an entertaining read. It was lighthearted, fun, and romantic. Sophie Cousens created characters that I found myself caring about, rooting for, and laughing alongside. I already have this author’s next book on my TBR list!
