2 Book Lovers Reviews

Two of my favorite things: reading and music. The Future Saints was high on my to-be-read list, and it did not disappoint.

The Future Saints were at a low point in their short-lived career as a band. They still owed their record label another album, but after the death of the band’s manager, the Future Saints just couldn’t seem to get it together, especially Hannah, the band’s lead singer. When the record label sends their “Fixer” to get this band back on their feet, he realizes that he’s going to have his work cut out for him, but with their undeniable talent and new, gut-wrenching music, he may be able to resurrect their careers after all.

The book alternates between Hannah and Theo’s perspectives. I enjoyed this back and forth. It enabled me to get to know these characters, to witness their struggles, and understand their vulnerabilities. Despite it being from these two characters’ perspectives, the rest of the characters stood out as well. It wasn’t just Hannah who made the band, her bandmates were equally as intriguing and entertaining to the story.

Overall, I just found this novel to have an authenticity to it. It felt as though I was reading about an actual band, with all of their highs and lows, their antics, the music industry, the fame, and the notoriety. With that being said, this novel was so much deeper than just a band’s potential road to success. This book delves deeper into the characters and deals with serious subject matter, such as loss, grief, and love. It is raw, desperately heartfelt, and deeply emotional. I didn’t just read the story; I felt it right along with the characters.
