I had been seeing this novel everywhere. It had also been getting a lot of great reviews and recommendations, so you know that meant I had to read it.

Normally, I’m not drawn to books about infertility and pregnancies (for my own reasons). Well, this book ended up being an exception to the rule. It was incredibly well done. It not only dealt with infertility, but it was also so much more. I was hooked.

Any book that makes its reader feel is a good book. The Best Worst Thing certainly made me feel. Oh, I felt a plethora of emotions of varying degrees. This book deals with some very difficult and tumultuous times in Nicole Speyer’s life. Not only was her dream of having a child of her own fading, but the man that she loved and was married to for a decade had been betraying her. Mm-hmm. I had some pretty strong feelings about him.

It’s not all sadness and heartbreak, though. It’s a novel about second chances, falling in love, seeing your worth, and taking chances. And Logan Milgram? Yeah, he was a wonderful character. I enjoyed seeing their relationship evolve from when they had worked together to where they found themselves and each other now. I could feel the emotions, the yearning, and the love right through the pages.

The Best Worst Thing was such a good read. I’m glad that I stepped out of my comfort zone and let my fear of missing out win over. I am looking forward to reading more books by Lauren Okie.
