Life: A Love Story
By Elizabeth Berg

What a lovely, heartwarming story this was! Everyone needs to read a book like this every once in a while, and I know for myself, I sure needed it.

Flo was a charming character. I absolutely adored her. It was impossible not to. Flo has died at the age of ninety-two and has left behind a long letter to be mailed to the woman who had always been like a daughter to her and her husband. In it she talks about her life, her marriage, her friendships, and the objects that have brought her much joy and meaning to her life. The simple things that meant so much.

Flo’s life wasn’t always easy, but she was able to find the good in it. She knew that it was never too late to make friends, find love, and enjoy what is around you. Even when Flo found out that she was dying, she wasn’t really ready to go. She still managed to make the most of her days, though, and I enjoyed witnessing her live her life to the fullest. Flo was a lesson in living.

As I suspected, I laughed, I cried, and I was moved by this story. There was even a bit of mystery to it that got revealed near the end of Flo’s letter. Life: A Love Story was a wonderful reading experience. It will definitely make me look at life a bit differently from now on.
