Your soulmate. How do you find your soulmate? Well, isn’t that a great question.
Do you remember walking into that room, that room where she was and seeing her there; that person who made everyone else disappear? Was it by chance or divine intervention that put the two of you in that place at that time. Wouldn’t it be so much easier if modern technology could simplify the whole process and match you both up sooner. Then you would know. You wouldn’t know when you know; you would know because of scientific data and certainty. What could go wrong with that?
John Marrs takes us into this not-so-distant world, with a simple DNA test you can connect with your soulmate. Are we there? At a place where we want to take the courting out of courting. Where a machine tells you who you should be with. It seems like a slippery slope from should to will. Do we live in a world of free will or predestination?
The diverse cast of people created by Marrs brought me into this world. They were all looking for that person to complete their lives, to make them feel complete and whole. He pulled me into their stories. I appreciated the shocks and surprises along the way.
I don’t want to say too much about the story or stories; there are really five separate yet connected stories in here. Marrs takes a slow-building road from beginning to end with a whole lot of “I did not see that coming” along the way.
