Charm City Rocks: A Love Story
By Matthew Norman

I now have to add Matthew Norman to my list of must-read authors. This is only my second novel by him, but I have quickly discovered that his writing just connects with me.

A book is nothing without its characters, and let me tell you, Charm City Rocks has a wonderful cast of characters. From the main characters to the secondary characters, they were all so well done and added their own special flair to this story.

Everybody likes Billy Perkins, and I can totally see why. He is a music teacher, a dad, and an all-around nice, happy guy.  When he has a unique encounter with the rock star crush from his younger days, Billy is just as smitten as he once was by Margot Hammer, the former drummer of Burnt Flowers, but their meeting didn’t go quite as planned.

This novel has so much heart. It’s about music, families (in all of their unique forms), finding happiness, and falling in love. I was invested in the characters right from the beginning of the book and was all in with them right until the final page. This novel had it all: plenty of humor, great banter, romance, perfectly imperfect characters, and a lovely story.

Charm City Rocks had so much to love. I am looking forward to reading more books by Matthew Norman in the near future.
