Finding Claire Fletcher

By Lisa Regan

It has been quite some time since I read Hold Still. I had completely forgotten what an excellent author Lisa Regan is. She writes a dark crime story as well as any of the big boys (Larsson and Adler-Olsen).

Connor is a detective, he has had a bad day…until Claire Fletcher comes into his life. Then just as quickly, she disappears again, launching Connor into the mystery of Finding Claire Fletcher. So begins the race to stop a sick demented criminal from continuing his reign of terror.

What Lisa Regan does best is to delve into the psyche of her characters, you not only follow the actions or sequence of events, but you get a complete understanding of the “why they do what they do.” You feel the torment that Claire Fletcher feels and the frustration of Connor as he tries to find her. The one thing that all of the best authors do is they make you feel and they make you care. Lisa Regan certainly does this.

Finding Claire Fletcher pushes the reader, it touches on many taboo subjects (I won’t get into which ones, you have to read it for yourself), yet it does not cross the line. These crimes are dark, ugly and disturbing, but they happen in real life, we can’t just pretend that they don’t exist.

This book pulled me in right from the start and never let me go. If you like a dark crime novel that pushes your boundaries, then you need to read Finding Claire Fletcher.
