What a Girl Wants is a quick and entertaining read. It showcases the not so glamorous side of the music industry.
Rhiannon has been given the opportunity of a lifetime. She was chosen to be the back-up singer for Killer Valentine. This has been the chance that Rhiannon has been waiting for. The band’s popularity is soaring, but the bandmates have their share of issues. With a gorgeous manager, a workaholic frontman, and a group of delinquent, substance abusing band members, this music gig has become more of a challenge than Rhiannon had originally anticipated.
Rhiannon is a very realistic character. I appreciate the fact that she doesn’t fit the stereotypical mold of the perfect woman. I like that she has flaws, she is normal. She hasn’t had a picture perfect life, she has body issues, she struggles financially, and she is lonely. She is a character that you immediately like and want to see succeed.
The other characters can be best described as a colorful group of individuals. They are living the rock and roll lifestyle – late nights, women, and partying hard. They believe that you can mix music with pleasure, but not relationships. This proves to be a difficult rule to live by.
Once again, Blair Babylon has given the readers a well written book that is filled with interesting characters. The story flowed well and kept my interest throughout. I am looking forward to reading the next installment in this series.
