Jada’s dream is to build cars.  Her leisure time is spent tinkering around with mechanics in her shed and flipping through the pages of hot rod magazines.  But Jada’s had to put her dreams on the back burner in order to help her family with their finances.  When Jada gets the opportunity to attend a class taught by one of the best in the business, she is more than ready to get her hands dirty under his tutelage.

Jesse Valentine is a celebrity in his line of work.  To get the chance to learn from an expert in the field is a dream come true for Jada.  Jesse, however, is not a natural born teacher.  He is gruff, abrupt, and a no-nonsense kind of guy.  While Jada is an eager student in his class, her presence just seems to push all of Jesse’s buttons and get under his skin.

There is no sugar-coating when it comes to Jesse.  He is quite rude and harsh where Jada is concerned.  Were there times when I wanted to knock some common decency into Jesse?  Absolutely.  But trust me, there is a big heart under that tough exterior.  While his behavior baffles her, she is used to not being taken seriously in this male-dominated field.  But Jada doesn’t hold back when it comes to Jesse.  She dishes the sarcasm right back to him.  This lends its way to a great deal of banter and bickering between the two of them.

I’m going to be completely honest, I know absolutely nothing about mechanics, but I do know about romantic tension, and this book has it in spades!   Whether Jada and Jesse were at each other’s throats or sharing a kind moment, the chemistry between them was always present.  Their romance was a slow burn, allowing the readers to anticipate the moment when they would finally surrender to their feelings.  Mmhmm…and it was so worth the wait.

It’s always refreshing to read about a woman who is in a non-traditional field of work and who is excelling at it.  I was rooting for Jada right from the beginning.  I wanted her to realize how talented and how strong she really was.

Filled with humor, romantic tension galore, and great characters, Fabricating Jada is an enjoyable read that kept me entertained until the very end.
