So…I was introduced to this character in Deliver, Van Quiso is his name. What can I say about him? Well, he is intimidating, sexy as hell, scary as hell, kinky, rough, brutal, damaged, lonely, caring and loving. I know that you are sitting there wondering how I could have possibly added caring and loving to that mix of characteristics…well, my friends, that is the beauty of Pam Godwin’s writing. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I think that if I ever came face to face with a man like Van, I would gawk and then turn around and go running straight for the hills, but she has made this monster of a man and has given him this spark of decency that makes you feel for him and care about him.

Vanquish can certainly be read as a standalone, but I would highly recommend reading Deliver first (you won’t be disappointed). You not only get to meet Van, but you get to see his interactions and connection with Liv. He is a character that I hated, liked, hated again, and then really liked. I ran the whole gamut of emotions with Van, and in my opinion, that is the sign of a great fictional character.

Amber is anything but normal. Her life has been a series of problems. She is a former beauty pageant queen who suffers with agoraphobia, OCD, and body image issues. Her life is spent in the confines of her house, maintaining a regime that keeps her in check. When Van meets Amber unexpectedly, both of their “crazy” worlds collide and things are never quite the same. Van has definitely met his match and Amber proves to be his biggest challenge yet.

What happens when someone who has a history of capturing people meets someone who keeps herself held captive?

You will have to read the book to find out.

This book is intense, mind blowing, and not for the faint of heart. The characters are warped, twisted and so intriguing. Van Quiso is not your typical romance novel hero; he is no knight in shining armour, not your “boy next door”. If you’re looking for a romance that is filled with soft kisses, warm embraces and hand holding…keep looking!

Did I mention that dolls are extremely creepy?
